Is a paid program for my teen worth the money?

Is a paid program just pay to play?

Often, yes, if what you are paying for is the program's name. Anyone who can pay can attend, so admissions officers give the name little weight.

So judge a program by what exists at the end. A website with real users or a campaign that raised money counts no matter who paid for the help, because it is real and your child can explain it in their own words. NaviFounders will not impress anyone by its name either. What we promise is a launched project with your child's name on it. Which teens get the most out of a paid program?

A teen who wants something, even if they cannot yet say what. In my sessions about half arrive without a clear direction, and the other half need help turning an idea they already have into something real and finished.

No program can do the work between sessions for them. If your teen is only there because you want them to be, you are mostly paying for a calendar of meetings. The free strategy session is where we find that out, before any money moves.

What does a teen get out of it besides a line on an application?

Skills that outlast the application season. A real project teaches your teen to:

• find the first ten people who want the thing
• write to a stranger, a teacher or a journalist and get a reply
• ask for money from a grant, a sponsor or a first paying customer
• keep deadlines they set themselves
• build fast with AI tools while doing the thinking themselves
• work out what they are good at, which helps later when choosing what to study

How much should a paid program cost?

Published prices for teen programs run from about $500 for a short group course to more than $11,000 for a summer program on a campus. NaviFounders is $1,000 for twelve one on one sessions, paid in full or in three payments with no interest and no fees. We have no scholarship or financial help at the moment. How can I tell if a paid program is worth it before I pay?

Ask every program these eight questions, including us. Our answer is under each one.

1. Who actually mentors my child, and what have they done themselves?

Ask for a name, what that person has built, and whether you can meet them.

2. What will my child have at the end?

Ask what past students finished with.

NaviFounders: a launched project, and a written account of what they did.

3. Is the price published, and what does it include?

If it only comes out on a sales call, ask why.

NaviFounders: $1,000 for twelve one on one sessions, published on our site. Your child owns everything that gets made.

4. What happens if it is not working?

Ask for the refund terms before you pay.

NaviFounders: within the first four sessions you get every dollar back. If your child does the work we agree on, we keep working with them until the project launches properly, at no extra charge.

5. How will I know how it is going?

Some paid programs go silent toward parents. Ask what you will see.

NaviFounders: your child keeps a progress tracker with a named checkpoint for every session, and you can see it whenever you want. You can text or email me any time in between.

6. Who does the work?

Some programs quietly do the hard parts for the student, and colleges can tell.

NaviFounders: we do not build it for your child. AI tools make the first rough version fast, so the sessions go on what only your child can do, like choosing the idea and talking to real users. The essay is in their own words.

7. Is my child safe, and can anyone vouch for you?

Meet anyone who will work one on one with your child.

NaviFounders: sessions are over video, and you meet me before paying. Calls may be recorded so I can prepare the next session. The recording stays on our own server and is deleted whenever you ask. References are available on request, and more is on our questions page.

8. Does it promise admission?

Nobody can. Be careful of anyone who does.

NaviFounders: we do not.

When is a paid program not worth it?

• When your teen does not want it, and the project would exist only for a line on an application.
• When the hope is that someone else will do the work. No program worth paying for builds it for your child.
• When the goal is a research paper or lab work. A research program is built for that, and NaviFounders is not.

If a program passes all eight questions and your teen wants to do it, it is likely worth the money. Ask me all eight on a free call that commits you to nothing.
